I had an wonderful opportunity to listen and interact with Venkat Subramaniam couple of days back (Author of Practices of an Agile Developer). Venkat interacted with the whole team, shared his experience and it was very nice listening to him. He even paired with one of the developers and i am sure it would have been a life time experience for that developer (KP).
One of the key things he shared was about Meta learning. He was mentioning that it would take only about 7 to 8 hours for him to learn a new language (on an overnight flight) and he would be able to teach the next day.
Technology is growing at a faster pace that what anyone could cope up with and its very important to understand how to learn something quickly.
Beyond his technology skills, one thing definitely impressed me about Venkat was his humbleness. He never showed any sign that said, he knew things better. Its very difficult to be humble after all such fame. There were lot of primitive questions and he explained, shared his thoughts in a very nice way.
You definitely inspired us Venkat. My respect for you has increased much more now than what it was after reading “Practices of an Agile Developer”
Thanks to Vaidy for inviting me to be part of this wonderful interaction.
